Question: Are leftist historians distorting Ramayana by claiming islamic invasions was the reason for start of Rama worship?

The paper Historical Evolution of the Rama Legend" by Suvira Jaiswal, published in the journal Social Scientist, Vol. 21, No. 3/4 (Mar. - Apr., 1993),analyzes the various versions of the Ramayana and other texts to trace the development of the Rama legend from its earliest origins to the present day arguing that the Rama legend has undergone significant changes over time, reflecting the changing social, political, and cultural contexts in which it has been transmitted.
Rama is considered one of the ten avatars of Vishnu. Dashavatara Temple in Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, is one of the earliest Hindu stone temples still surviving today. It was built in the Gupta Period (320 to c. 600 AD) and depicts ten incarnations of Vishnu. The temple is a good resource that Rama worship was present even before Islam religion itself was even founded.
